Signs Your Tree Needs Pruning

Pruning isn’t just about making a tree look neat. Done at the right time and for the right reasons, it can improve tree health, reduce hazards, and help prevent problems before they become more serious.
Here are a few signs your tree may be ready for some attention:
🌿 Dead or broken branches — Deadwood can fall unexpectedly and should be evaluated, especially over homes, sidewalks, driveways, or other high-use areas.
🌿 Branches rubbing or crossing — Limbs that continually rub against each other can damage the bark and create wounds.
🌿 Low or obstructing branches — Branches interfering with sidewalks, streets, signs, buildings, or visibility may need clearance pruning.
🌿 Dense or poorly structured growth — Selective pruning can address weak branch attachments and improve the tree’s overall structure.
🌿 Branches growing toward structures — Limbs contacting or approaching roofs, siding, gutters, or other structures are easier to address before they become a bigger problem.
A little preventative pruning can go a long way. The goal isn’t to remove as much as possible—it’s to make thoughtful cuts that support the tree’s health, structure, and surroundings.
Not sure whether your tree actually needs pruning? Arbor Nexus LLC can help evaluate it and recommend what makes sense for the tree.
